Despite being slain by Thanos in the opening five minutes of Avengers: Infinity War, Idris Elba has been talking up a potential MCU return for his character Heimdall.

First appearing in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor movie back in 2011, the Asgardian bridgekeeper remained a mysterious and underused presence throughout his time in the franchise – and Idris himself shared some disappointment at this back in 2017.

But with the unique mind of director Taika Waititi back in the game for Thor: Love and Thunder, the Luther star seems interested in revisiting the MCU – and who can blame him?

Whilst doing press for his latest project Hobbs & Shaw, Idris was asked if he’d consider returning to Marvel’s superhero empire (via We Got This Covered).

“Of course,” he responded. “Listen, Heimdall is essentially part of the god family. So you know, he essentially could be alive. I’m just saying! I’m just putting it out there.

“The Heimdall character goes way back into, you know, the Thor mythology. And I’m sure there will be an interesting way to bring that alive. Of course I would. Yes.”

Would you be excited to see Heimdall (and Idris) back in the MCU if he returned in Thor: Love and Thunder?
