Disney’s about to release yet another remake of an animated classic in the form of The Lion King, which comes out later this month.
With it being so close to release, the BBFC has now been able to confirm the film’s running time, and it’s quite a bit longer than the original.
The remake comes in at 118 minutes and 7 seconds, which is just shy of two hours. In comparison, the original version runs at about 88 minutes (and that might even be the Special Edition, which added a short extra song).
That’s about half an hour of additional content, and while we imagine some of that will be credits that last forever, it’s still quite the difference in length.
The remake of The Lion King has an all-star voice cast, with Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Seth Rogen joining a returning James Earl Jones.
