Rey actress Daisy Ridley has revealed that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be “less controversial” than Game of Thrones‘ final season.

Just so you know, things will get a little spoilery from now on, so if you’ve not managed to catch the most recent episodes of Thrones… we’ve held the door so you can escape.

Set for release this Christmas, Rise of Skywalker will close the curtain on JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson’s joint trilogy, with Jedi apprentice Rey and Resistance fighter Finn’s stories coming to an explosive climax.

2017’s The Last Jedi proved highly divisive amongst fans of the franchise, and following this year’s Thrones conclusion – where Bran Stark was handed the Iron Throne and Daenerys Targaryen was slain by Jon Snow – the topic of controversial endings is the elephant in the room awaiting Rise of Skywalker.

Chatting to MTV News at last weekend’s D23 Expo, Daisy was asked if she thought the upcoming sci-fi movie would prove equally as polarising as HBO’s fantasy series.

“I think this ending will be less controversial,” she predicted, admitting that she’s aware of Thrones‘ closing events even though she’s only just watching season four (!).

Elsewhere, the star has also addressed whether the Dark Side Rey is *real* following newly-released footage of the movie.

Surely the team haven’t planted such a massive spoiler within a promotional video…?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released on Thursday, December 19 in the UK and Friday, December 20 in the US.
