Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to wrap up the battle between the Resistance and the First Order when it hits cinemas in December.

But if you’ve seen The Last Jedi then you’ll know that the First Order is a bit low on recognisable characters, seeing that Supreme Leader Snoke and Captain Phasma were both – spoiler warning! – killed off (not that that’s a huge loss).

But now the ninth episode is adding another cool-looking (and highly merchandisable) baddie in the form of the Sith Trooper, as revealed by the official Star Wars YouTube channel. Check it out below:

While it might just look like a red stormtrooper, the use of the word ‘Sith’ links it back to the older films. The religious order of Dark Side users were represented by Darths Sidious, Maul, Tyrannus and Vader, but Kylo Ren and Snoke never really identified as such.

Obviously we know that Palpatine is returning in the upcoming movie, so will these Sith Troopers have something to do with him? Will they have UN-LIM-UH-TED POWAHHHH?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released on Thursday, December 19 in the UK and Friday, December 20 in the US.
