Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor Richard E Grant was left crying tears of joy after viewing the film for the first time.

The actor posted a delightfully heartwarming video to Twitter on Tuesday (December 4) and wrote: “Just seen the 1st cast screening of @starwars THE RISE OF SKYWALKER.

“What it achieves, weaves & resolves, is a total emotional meltdown & resurrection of the Spirit. Bravo to @jjabrams & his astonishing cast & creative crew.”

In the video, which you can check out at the bottom of this article, Richard described his reaction to the film, saying “nothing prepares you for this”.

He added: “I cheered, I shouted, I fist-pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It’s absolutely everything that you hoped it was gonna be.

“I’m so proud to be in it and I can’t wait for you to see it.”

In the film, Richard plays a high-ranking member of the First Order named Allegiant General Pryde, who will be working closely with General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson).

But while he clearly loved the latest instalment, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, has admitted that some people are “never” going to like the film.

“There are people that are never going to f***ing like it and there’s no other way around it,” Daisy said while speaking to GQ Magazine.

“But I think people are going to feel like this was made with a lot of love and JJ [Abrams] worked really hard to tie up nine films. It’s impossible to make everyone happy.”
