Pokémon Sword and Shield are getting a massive expansion pack in 2020, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have revealed.

During the Pokémon Direct on Thursday (January 9), it was announced that both versions of the game will be getting an Expansion Pass that will add two new, separate adventures for players.

The Expansion Pass itself will include two separate expansions – The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra – which will introduce whole new locations to explore, bringing with them a variety of additional content.

“In the Expansion Pass, players will visit two brand new areas, the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra,” explained game director Shigeru Ohmori.

“The Isle of Armor is a location inspired by the Isle of Man, an island situated just off the coast of the United Kingdom, and the Crown Tundra is a snowy landscape inspired by Scotland.”

Additionally, the Expansion Pass will give players access to new outfits and Gigantamax forms, as well as adding a whole host of new Pokémon to the Pokedex.

The Isle of Armor expansion will be released by the end of June 2020, while The Crown of Tundra expansion is set to land in autumn 2020.
