Barely a week after Nintendo announced its newest addition to the Switch family, the gaming giant has confirmed another brand new Switch model is also on the horizon.
The latest model, which is not to be confused with the new Switch Lite, is reported to have the same specifications as the current model – and will therefore cost the same – but will have an improved battery life on the original.
According to Kotaku, Nintendo’s upgrade on the Switch will see its battery life almost doubled, offering you even more time to play your favourite games when it’s released in August.
Using the example of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has boosted the game-play time between charges from an estimated 3 hours to an impressive 5.5 hours.
Which is just as well, when you consider how many shrine and side quests there are.
Speaking of improved battery life, the newly announced Switch Lite will also have more power than its parent, as well as a more lightweight and compact design.
Designed to play solely in handheld-mode, the Switch Lite will be around $100 (around £80) cheaper than the original hybrid console, and it will even come in additional colours.
Switch Lite will be available to covet in yellow, grey, and turquoise, and there’ll also be a special light grey Pokémon Sword and Shield edition available, too.
We know which one we’re after.
The new and improved Switch is due next month. Meanwhile, the Switch Lite arrives on September 20, 2019.
