The Pepper Potts actress infamously admitted to being completely unaware that she was in the 2017 Spidey solo movie, mistaking her moment in it for an Avengers scene.
“That was Spider-Man?!” Paltrow said on director and actor Jon Favreau’s Netflix show The Chef Project. “Oh my God!”
Marvel boss Kevin Feige has now weighed in on the whole saga, poking fun at Paltrow’s ignorance by recalling the day many of Marvel’s big players came together for a 10th anniversary photo while filming Avengers: Endgame.
“Remember when we released a 10th anniversary photo? [The funeral scene] was shot the day before that,” he said at the Empire Magazine live podcast. “That’s why we did that photo then because we had everybody there.
“On the day, it was insane. All these cast members together. Tom Holland coming up to me saying, ‘Is that Michelle Pfeiffer? Is Michelle Pfeiffer in this?'”
Feige then alluded to the actress’ slip-up by joking: “Gwyneth Paltrow asking why Sam Jackson was there. Well… The other actors jumping in, ‘What are you talking about? He’s Nick Fury. You’ve been in movies with him.'”
Spidey himself Tom Holland recently responded to Paltrow forgetting her cameo in Homecoming, admitting: “I mean, I’ve only worked with Gwyneth one time, on Spider-Man: Homecoming, which she doesn’t remember. Which still to this day breaks my heart.
“No, actually no, that’s not true. One time when we were shooting Endgame, she was in her blue suit, and I was in my Spider-Man suit, and she came up and she asked me for a photo with me and Robert [Downey Jr].”
