Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen has teased her upcoming Disney+ show WandaVision, suggesting that fans of the comics are in for a treat.
The actress has opened up about her new show, which follows her character and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision (Paul Bettany), and how it draws upon the comics.
“The longer I’m a part of the Marvel family – because it’s about five years now – the more I really get it,” she told the BUILD series.
“And especially with WandaVision, I’m just so excited for fans, because if they know anything about the Scarlet Witch in the comics I think this show will get them so excited.
“This show will explore why she is known as Scarlet Witch and how she’s Scarlet Witch as opposed to Wanda – we’ve always referred to her as Wanda in our films. So it’s an exciting opportunity.”
Speaking previously about the Marvel series, Olsen explained: “It is a mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel film with these characters.”

“That’s where it starts,” co-star Bettany added, “and then it sort of snowballs into an epic Marvel movie that you’ve grown to know or love.”
Olsen further explained: “Just from starting from Age of Ultron, the things that I’ve loved about the Scarlet Witch are things we’re getting to explore now.
“And I’m very nervous and excited about it in all the fun ways. But I think we finally get to go down some roads in comic books that are favourites and explore, and it’s going to be a wild ride.”
WandaVision is expected to hit Disney+ in 2021, while the service launches in the US on November 12, 2019 (but not in the UK).
