Last month, to mark the two-year anniversary of the theatrical release of Justice League, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck joined the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign.

Alongside Aquaman’s Jason Momoa and Cyborg actor Ray Fisher, the stars banded together with fans, calling for the release of a version of the superhero mash-up movie that better reflects director Zack Snyder’s original vision.

However, Henry Cavill, who plays the Worlds of DC’s current Superman, elected to stay quiet at the time, and is still yet to join the movement.

Explaining why he hasn’t joined in with his co-stars, the actor joked in a recent interview that it’s related to the fiasco surrounding his digitally removed moustache.

Speaking to Fox 32 News‘ Jake Hamilton, he said: “I wouldn’t say there’s any particular reason. I mean, I miss my moustache – which is the most important thing. And for me it was just a harrowing reminder that I didn’t have it anymore. And so I just didn’t want to dig that wound any deeper.”

In another interview with ReelBlend‘s co-host Kevin McCarthy, Cavill also revealed that he hasn’t seen a Snyder cut of Justice League.

“I have not seen a Snyder Cut,” he explained. “I don’t know if there’s anything that exists that is a Snyder Cut. I’m sure there’s footage out there that’s probably been pieced together over the years.

“I’m always interested to see how that stuff turns out, but that is very much a chapter in my past. I would rather talk about what’s going to happen in the future, the future of Superman.”
