We never thought our lives would be governed by the numbers next to our name on a social media app but *seriously*. If your Snapchat score is lower than Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory‘s IQ then listen up, because we’ve worked out how to raise it. Bazinga, one could say…
First things first. What exactly a Snapchat score? Drag your finger from the top to the bottom of your screen to reveal your profile page. Next to your name is you’ll find a bunch of numbers. This isn’t how many hilarious snaps you’ve sent your pals. This (possibly measly) number is actually your Snapchat score. It’s how great (or crap) you are at doing Snapchat.
To get a crazily high score you have to work at it. Those clever bods at Snapchat HQ aren’t handing out points like sweets to people. Oh no, you have to make an effort to raise your game before you get your actual game acknowledged as being bang on.
In five relatively simple steps, your Snapchat profile could go from (kind of) zero to hero. Ready?
1. Shut down
It sounds bonkers but shutting down your Snapchat for a bit will help big up your score in the long run. When you reboot the app and start sending and opening snaps, Team Snapchat is so pleased you’re back they boost your rating! Kind, eh? You should also send snaps to Team Snapchat. They like to be involved and feel some love from followers.
2. Be open to opening
Can’t be bothered to look at the 50 snaps your best mate sent you whilst out on the town last night? Fair enough. But by ignoring her multiple dog-filtered shots and butterfly beauty selfies, you’re missing out on crucial points. The simple act of opening snaps *gives you points*. An opened snap = a single point.
Not much alone but in the long run, definitely worth it. If you really can’t stand another basic snap from said BFF, sit her/him down for a chat about snap standards. If they up their game to the level you’re happy to endure, everyone’s a winner!
3. Friendly fun
We’re not saying you should send a goodnight snap to every person on your list but the more snaps you send out, the higher your score will rocket. So don’t be shy! A major thing to remember is that it’s one point . Not one point per person. Which means you can’t just send a snap of you singing along to Calvin Harris to every single person you follow and bag tons of points. Otherwise we’d all be rolling in them.
4. Hit up celebs
Sending 150+ different snaps a day could end up alienating you from your real mates. Do they need to see you choosing what to wear in 17 snaps? But if you send Kim Kardashian loads of different snaps in a day, the reality star is probably too inundated with her other followers sending snaps to open a bunch of boring ones. Soz. The plain truth is, scatter-bombing celebs with pointless snaps (ones your mates would definitely rinse you for) is actually a very good way to boost your points. Without losing any cool points IRL.
Need some new celebs to follow/snap-attach? Well aren’t you lucky, because we’ve made you a list.
5. Hack off!
Don’t be fooled by websites telling you they can hack your Snapchat and up points by crazy amounts. The Snapchat algorithm cannot be hacked. Simple. All you’ll end up with if you go down a hack route is a bunch of boring surveys to fill in and tons of spam in your inbox. You have been warned…
