Henry Cavill has weighed in on Batman’s big fight with Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice all these years later, joking that the Man of Steel was “holding back”.
The actor took to Instagram to comment on a visual piece by DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, who shared a depiction of Superman blasting his foe in the head with heat vision.
Writing in the comments, Cavill wrote: “Seeeeee. Was holding back the whole time…”.
The DC movie was infamously divisive when it came out back in 2016, one of the complaints from some fans being the fact that Batman kills people.
However, director Zack Snyder defended the decision earlier this year, saying that those against a darker iteration of Bruce Wayne were “living in a f**king dreamworld”.
“Oh like, ‘Batman killed a guy’. I’m like, ‘Really? Wake the f**k up,'” he said.
“So I guess that’s what I’m saying about, once you’ve lost your virginity to this f**king movie and then you come and say to me something like, ‘My superhero wouldn’t do that’, I’m like, ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the f**king road on that. You know what I mean?
“It’s a cool point. Look, I’m 100% fine with it. It’s a cool point of view to be like, ‘My heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money. My heroes didn’t commit any atrocities’.”
