Niantic Inc, who created Pokémon Go, is the company behind Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, so you can bet it’s put everything learned from the huge hit into this new app.
And it’s now been officially announced when you can start playing it: this Friday (June 21)!
The game’s official Twitter account posted: “The worldwide launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite begins this Friday, June 21! Keep your eyes peeled and wand ready for more information as the game goes live in your region soon.”
The (really dramatic) launch trailer shows the world of Muggles being invaded by magical creatures like Dementors, and battles with the evil Death Eaters. You’ll get to do that in the game, as well as come across artefacts and people from the Wizarding World.
Similar to Pokémon Go, the real world weather will affect the game. Think werewolves only coming out when there’s a full moon.
Character progression is a big thing in the game, and you’ll be able to train as either an auror, magizoologist, or a professor, putting points into a skill tree to further yourself.
Fingers crossed the global roll-out goes well, and Wizards Unite isn’t plagued with the issues that Pokémon Go had at the start.
