The title of Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters sequel has been confirmed, with the first official trailer nearly upon us.
Earlier today (December 2), the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) gave the first trailer an age rating, which means we expect to land arrive very soon. The listing also revealed that the film will be called Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which seems apt.
Lined up as the third film in the original series – yes, this one has nothing to do with Paul Feig’s all-female reboot – Ghostbusters: Afterlife will see the return of original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts.
Other cast members include Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Bookeem Woodbine and Oliver Cooper.
Filming officially wrapped on the new project back in November, with director Jason Reitman marking the occasion by sharing a photo of himself with his father Ivan Reitman (who directed the original two movies) and cast members Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Logan Kim.
“Wrapped!” he wrote. “68 days and still smiling.”
Details about the film’s plot are still under wraps, but with the trailer set to be released soon, it looks like we’re about to gain a better idea of what it’s all about. Ghosts, presumably.
Ghostbusters 3 (that’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife) will be released on July 10 2020.
