Former Batman actor Christian Bale has broken his silence on Robert Pattinson’s casting as the Caped Crusader, and he’s clearly a big fan.
The actor starred as the DC comics hero in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, before passing on the mantle to Ben Affleck.
Pattinson was recently announced as the latest actor to play the iconic role, and Bale reckons he’ll bring something “interesting” to the part.
“Oh good,” Bale told Variety of the actor. “Good choice! He’s interesting. I’m sure he’ll come up with something real interesting.”
However, when asked for any advice for the young star, Bale warned of the inconveniences of wearing the Batsuit.
“Same as for Ben [Affleck] – just be able to pee by yourself,” he joked. “You don’t feel much like a superhero when you can’t take a piss!”

Meanwhile, Pattinson recently opened up about the backlash to his casting as Batman, admitting it was not as bad as he was expecting.
“To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting,” he said. “It’s much more fun when you’re an underdog. There’s no expectation of you.”
The star added of his reaction to the news leaking in advance: “When that thing leaked, I was f**king furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing.”
The Batman will be released on June 25, 2021.
