It’s September, which means it’s basically Christmas already – and what better way to mark it than with a brand new trailer for Paul Feig’s upcoming festive rom-com Last Christmas?
The second official trailer for the Wham! and George Michael-inspired film landed today (September 12), and it comes with a real treat for fans of the band as Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke sings their classic hit ‘Last Christmas’.
The movie follows Kate (Emilia Clarke), a cynical and grumpy Londoner who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. Into her life steps Tom (Henry Golding), who’s basically a saint, and he begins to break through Kate’s barriers as the two start up a festive romance.
Like the first trailer, however, this new one teases that the film might not be the straightforward rom-com it appears to be.
This time we’re given a greater look into Kate’s unexpected history, as she reveals she was “really sick” last Christmas and almost died.
Digital Spy previously explored if Tom could in any way be linked to Kate’s recovery, with his character being some sort of Christmas spirit who helps her make the most of her second chance at life.
After all, he doesn’t interact with anyone else in either trailer and he always seems to appear out of nowhere in Kate’s moments of need.
Last Christmas is released in US cinemas on November 8 and UK cinemas on November 15.
