A new clip from Disney’s upcoming The Lion King teases the big battle between Simba and Scar.
Directed by The Jungle Book‘s Jon Favreau, this live-action adaptation of the classic animation sees Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s Donald Glover take on the voice of Simba, whilst Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor voices the villainous Scar.

Uploaded to the movie’s Instagram account, this short trailer has everything from Simba’s adventures with Timon and Pumbaa to Rafiki’s heartwarming advice to his future king.
“Who are you?” he asks Simba, before adding: “Everybody is somebody, look closer. You see, he lives in you…”
As previously mentioned, we get a brief (but fierce) look at Simba and Scar’s epic showdown here, as the two big cats trade blows for the right to rule the kingdom.
Although fans of the 1994 original will know the end result, it still looks like a jaw-dropping rendition of their final battle.
Elsewhere, Favreau recently revealed that his new film is heavily inspired by the iconic naturalist Sir David Attenborough.
Referencing Attenborough’s documentaries such as Planet Earth, the director said: “There’s a common acceptance that this is how nature looks, so we’re trying to import that sense of realism by borrowing their techniques”.
The Lion King will open in cinemas on July 19.
