What is Cyber Monday?
If you haven’t heard of Cyber Monday before, you will certainly have heard of Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year.
A golden opportunity to secure some of the biggest discounts and deals on a remarkably wide array of products, from TVs and consumer technology, to clothing and home appliances.
The sale was initially a celebration to mark the first Monday after Thanksgiving in the US – a business plan to entice shoppers out of their houses and into stores to spend money.
This has since evolved to entice shoppers online, prompting retailers to throw as many discounts and deals in your face to get you to spend money, both in the US and here in the UK, and you can take advantage of that, by keeping an eye on the deals and snagging HUGE discounts.
Cyber Monday follows on from the famous Black Friday, sharing a weekend of sales and discounts that can be the perfect opportunity to grab a deal for Christmas, or treat yourself to a new gadget.
The long weekend of sales is slowly and steadily increasing in length as retailers attempt to attract you into their stores. This means that you will start to see deals forming from the Monday before (November 25) and all the way through to ‘Bounce-Back Tuesday’ – yes, it is a corny name, but we won’t complain when they continue to give us great deals.
When is Cyber Monday?
As mentioned, Cyber Monday follows hot on the heels of Black Friday, which this year falls on November 29.
This means Cyber Monday will be on December 2 and will be where you can get significant discounts on everything from TVs and toys, to games and health trackers.
Indeed, this may be the perfect time for you to buy that one product you have been dreaming of for the last few weeks.
Cyber Monday 2018 saw massive discounts on the newest iPhones and Android devices – like the iPhone XR and Samsung S9 – and even 4K TVs. Given that Apple, Samsung and Google have all been busy releasing a bunch of new smartphones and products, it is safe to assume we will be seeing big price-drops for you to scoop up.
Which online retailers are offering Cyber Monday 2018 deals?
To be honest, you will be hard-pressed to find retailers who aren’t taking part in the Cyber Monday/Black Friday weekend, as it is such a big draw of revenue. However, some companies choose to opt out, particularly if they don’t sell tech products.
The biggest retailers normally have web-pages dedicated to their Black Friday deals. You can stop your web-surfing though, as we have run down some of the biggest names who are taking part this year.
These include: Amazon, John Lewis, Sky, Ebay, Argos, Tesco, Currys PC World, Boots, Debenhams, GAME, Firebox, ASOS, Proporta, Carphone Warehouse, M&S, Very, Toys R Us, ThinkGeek and House of Fraser to name but a few.
Given that Cyber Monday is all about technology, you can also expect to see discounts on Gaming (Sony, Microsoft), TVs (Samsung, LG, Hisense), Laptops (Dell, Acer, Apple, HP) and Cameras (Nikon, Canon).
Seriously, this weekend sale is huge, and most companies will be taking part in some capacity – the problem is finding the right deal for you.
