If there’s one good thing to come from the Nintendo Direct conference at E3, it was the official confirmation that Animal Crossing is coming to the Switch – at last.

We got a release date, trailers and loads of information about the new game that’s certainly been a long time coming.

Animal Crossing will hit shop shelves on March 20, 2020, so we still have a long time to wait to play – booo!

However, the game looks like great fun and well worth the delay to make things perfect.

The conference showed us a serene, calm exploration of a beautiful island, in a setting we’ve come to expect from Animal Crossing.

We were expecting the game to hit our Switch this year, but Nintendo announced today: “We must ask you to wait a little later than we thought.”

We can’t wait to get stuck into the life-sim game on a deserted island – just the holiday escape we were looking for in 2020.

Your task will be to build the perfect home on the island, cleaning up after your neighbours and making it all look as pretty as possible.

You’ll be crafting different tools this time round to improve your home and it looks like we’ll be playing it with friends, which is super exciting.

It’s a shame we have to wait so long to get our hands on it, but hey, at least it’s coming!
